About

Amanda is a Saxophonist, Flutist, and woodwinds doubler based in Los Angeles, CA. Beginning her musical journey in elementary school, she has played and performed in her home state for over 20 years.

Amanda has a range of educational backgrounds, having performed for the Citrus College pop bands, Long Beach City College and Los Angeles City College jazz ensembles, California State University of Los Angeles Afro Latin Orchestra, Pasadena City College Orchestra and jazz combos, and various ensembles at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). Amanda received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Jazz Reeds at CalArts.

Having professional work over the last 10 years, she has an extensive resume of performing and recording experience. She has performed small tours with local ska and reggae bands in the early 2010's, recorded saxophone and flute tracks for local bands and singers, and has always been readily available for any type of gig. She has a deep appreciation for local music as it reflects her love of Los Angeles. She is passionate about jazz, classical, and every type of music in between.

Amanda has had the honor of sitting with Craig Kupka's Swing and Pop Orchestra for 4 years as an alto and tenor saxophonist, performing monthly in South Pasadena. Here is where she learned classic jazz literature from some of the most talented and experienced musicians in the city.

In 2019, Amanda was given the opportunity of Musical Director for The Unmarked Door's The Crimson Cabaret, an immersive musical theatre experience in Glendale, Ca. Here she directed the band and worked closely with composer Rolfe Kent, along with stage directors, actors, choreographers, and musicians to ensure a smooth and thrilling performance. In this 3 month show run, she gained valuable directing experience that proves her skill in multitasking in the entertainment industry.

In 2022 she performed at the longest running jazz festival in the country, Monterey Jazz Fest with East Los Angeles Band Las Cafeteras. She has also performed with them at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Grand Park Performances in Downtown Los Angeles, and other local concert series across LA county.

Amanda is an active freelance musician and frequently works on various projects. She is currently working on new original music and looks forward to releasing in 2024.
